about

This song was written after many years of seeking God. I had so many evangelists and prophets lay hands on me and tell me I was going to do great things for God. After years of rejection and failure, following that, I turned away from it all because it became so difficult to believe in. Also, never knowing where I fit in in this world, it made that feeling even greater thinking that God didn't want me either. That's what this song is about.. the line "I haven't done anything that you said I would" is referring to those "prophets" that God "spoke" through to me, allegedly.

lyrics

this may be my last breath;
I don't know
I just feel myself
growing old
and there's still too much of me
to be any good
and I haven't done anything
that you said i would

so what am i still doing here?
what am I still doing here?
whisper something in my ear
and tell me what I'm doing here

you say God loves me
but how can you be sure?
these sins that I bear
what cross could endure?
when i look in the mirror
it's not my face i see
no, it's the ugliness
that lives inside of me

bridge:

I've disgraced your name
and I put you to open shame
yes, I've read what you said
it's just so hard to believe in anymore
so hard to believe in
